Fuel which contents significant amount of sulfur such as diesel fuel can be very risky and harmful for your engines. Whatever engines it might be. Diesel fuel usually contains 0.4% to above 1% sulfur. When combustion occurs, this sulfur produces sulfur di-oxide. And, this sulfur di-oxide mixes with the water vapor of the combustion chamber and produces sulfurous acid (H2SO3, 2 & 3 should be small suffixes). This sulfurous acid gets mixed with the engine oil and decreases its basicity (TBN). Eventually, it looses its viscosity and the fuel life is decreased to half or one fourth times of usual life. This actually depends on the percentage of sulfur in fuel.
